Do I need a domain to publish my website?
Yes. The domain is the address people type to reach your website, such as yourcompany.com, and it is also used for professional email, such as hello@yourcompany.com.
How to register it
Domains are registered with a domain registrar, and each extension, such as .com or a country extension, has its own registrars. Registration is renewed every year for a yearly fee.
Whose name it goes under
The domain should be registered under your company or your own name, with access to the account. That way it stays yours, no matter who builds or hosts the website.
How to choose one
Go for a short address that is easy to say and type, ideally with the business name. If the name is taken, try variations, such as adding the city or the type of business.
Setting it up
Once registered, I point the domain to the website’s hosting, with HTTPS and redirects, without you having to deal with anything technical.
